Will Paris was born and raised in Chicago’s southside Roseland neighborhood. As a youth growing up in the ’80s and ’90s Will would be one of the many affected by the House Music phenomenon. Exposure to this new sound would come during the pre-teen days of the early ’80s (’81, ’82, ’83) with the sound of WBMX’s Hot Mixes and the Mendel parties, and continue throught the ’80s and ealry ’90s with the addition of Bobby Q Bobby on WKKC and parties at places such as LaMirage, The Muzik Box (22nd & Michigan), The Bismark, Medusa’s, The Reactor, AKA’s, The Warehouse (Randolf & Halsted), Red Dog, and many others. Will credits his unique taste in music to many influences, both in and out of Chicago and the House music genre. A partial list include Jesse Saunders, Jamie Principle, Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy, Marshall Jefferson, Larry Heard, Chip E., Steve Hurley, Lil’ Louis, Farley Keith, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Chaka Kahn, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Teddy Pendergrass, Patrice Rushen, Jocelyn Brown, Patrick Adams, Leroy Burgess, “Red” Greg Carmichael and the list keeps going and going and going and going...
The new sound of House Music would also trigger Will’s passion for DJing and music production. Early memories not only include trips Imports Etc., Loop Records, Dr. Wax or 2nd Hand Tunes for records. Early exposure to music production would also involve digesting many issue of magazines such as Keyboard, Mix, and Electronic Musician; as well as loitering at Guitar Center’s southside 95th Street location for a chance to play with the latest technology from Sequential Circuits, Roland, Yamaha, Oberheim, and many others. Having watched first hand many audio production technologies, and innovative products and companies emerge is to what Will credits his unique style of production. In fact Will’s early production aresenal includes legendary equipment such as the Casio CZ-101 and FZ-1, Ensoniq Mirage Rack, Yamaha RX-7 and TX81Z, and Roland D-110.
